The Tampa Downtown Market has started up again. Every Friday through May, vendors and musicians gather in Lykes Gaslight Square from 10AM to 2PM.
According to the website, the mission of the Tampa Downtown Market "is to serve as a community-gathering place where local farmers, producers, and artisans can offer fresh agricultural and related products to generate a sense of local pride and further the economic development of Downtown Tampa."
We went last Friday for the first market of the 2009-10 season. I will admit, I felt proud to see some positive life going on in downtown Tampa! It was free and the weather was lovely. It was a nice way to get some fresh air with the family. We bought some organic produce at very reasonable prices. We even rode the downtown trolley! We felt very urban on that day.
