Evite: The Ultimate Green & Frugal Invitation

No matter how much recycled paper you use, there is no greener way to send an invitation than via the internet. I've received several invitations over the past few months from evite. They look super-cute, include cool and useful tools such as RSVP tracking and music play lists. Plus, it's quick and easy, so you don't need nearly as much lead time to get your invitations out. The best part is, since it's FREE and you don't have to pay for postage, it's frugal as well as green!

Although evites sound like a perfect idea in theory, there is still a small part of me that will miss getting that lovely envelope in the mail and having a keepsake of a special event. I also can't help but wonder if some people consider it impolite and impersonal to send an evite.

What do you think? Answer the poll to the right or leave a comment.

Huggies Enjoy the Ride Rewards Program

If you have some time to kill and you like playing the slots, you might enjoy the Huggies Enjoy the Ride Rewards program. In the amount of time it takes to take a Facebook quiz, I joined this program, racked up 24 points, and then spent them all playing an instant win game. I hoped to win a $25 Starbucks gift card or free diapers. Instead, I got to watch a cartoon baby make bubbles in the bath 24 times. If you're are interested, here are some codes that will get you started.

Joann & Michaels Coupons

Click here for some 50% off coupons at Joann that are good through Saturday, October 3. Michaels also ran a 40% off coupon in their flyer in the newspaper on Sunday that is good through Saturday, October 3. I have a shopping trip planned for this Saturday to buy all the supplies I need to make invitations to my niece's engagement party. With all the non-recycled paper I will be using, it is certainly not a very green project. However, I'm doing it myself and using my coupons, so it should be a fairly frugal endeavour!

5% Cashback from Discover on Groceries, Restaurants & Movies

Get 5% cashback rewards October through December when using your Discover Card for groceries, dining out, and movie tickets and rentals. You must sign up each time they offer a new reward program. I got burned on this before. I thought I just had to sign up once for the rewards program in general. I lost out on a few months worth of rewards because I didn't sign up again when they changed the program.

If you don't already have a Discover Card, you can get one now to take advantage of their current sign-on bonus of $100 cashback when you make $599 in purchases. The Invitation Code is DBYF. You can combine this with the 5% cashback rewards that everyone gets. That adds up to a lot of rewards!

50% Off Code for Restaurant.com

Enter discount code SHRIMP at Restaurant.com to get 50% off restaurant gift certificates. That means you pay $5 and you get a $25 gift certificate! Offer ends Sunday, October 4. Visit Restaurant.com to see which restaurants are participating in your area. The restrictions vary on each restaurant, so be sure you are okay with them before ordering your gift certificate.

I tried this last week for the first time. I actually got a slightly better deal of 80% off. So, for $2 I got a $25 gift certificate to Restaurant BT, one of our favorite semi-fancy places in South Tampa. The only caveat is that we have to order two entrees and tip 18%. We would do that anyway. I used PayPal to pay. It was very simple and I was able to print out my certificate right away. We plan to use it this weekend. If it goes well, maybe we'll do our second favorite Indian place, Angithi (although they require a $50 minimum).

Thanks to The Thrifty Mama and A Thrifty Mom for turning me on to this.
