Hulu is a great website that offers a huge database of full-length feature films and television shows - all for FREE. The database includes old shows as well as a number of current network programs (they usually post a day or so after they air). There are commercials, but not nearly as many as regular television.

Eggplant Pizza

Make a healthy and delicious eggplant pizza this weekend for $7 by taking advantage of sales and coupons.

• Boboli 100% Whole Wheat Pizza Crust is BOGO at Publix. (one crust is $2.19)
• Muir Glen Organic Tomato Sauce. I find that the 8-ounce can is the perfect amount for one pizza. It's more expensive per ounce, but there's no waste! Click here for $1-off Muir Glen coupons. (89 cents)
  
• Eggplant on sale for $1.15 per pound at Publix. (the eggplant I bought today cost a total of $1.48)
  
• Shredded mozzarella cheese. I stock up on this when it goes on sale for 2 for $5. ($2.50)
• You could also add baby portabello mushrooms, which are also on sale at Publix. ($1.69)
• By the way, my Sweetwater harvests often contain eggplants.
  

All you have to do it slice the eggplant very thin, rub a little sea salt on it, and fry it in bit of olive oil. Assemble the ingredients on the crust and bake about 12 minutes. I like to season the tomato sauce with Alessi Dipping Spices.

• Hunts 100% Natural Tomatoes BOGO. There was a 45-cents-off coupon in 10/4 newspaper.
  
• All Laundry Detergent $9.99. Click here for coupons. There was also a $2 coupon in the 10/4 newspaper.
  
• Organic Valley Milk 2 for $7. Click here for coupons.
  
• Halls Natural Cough Drops BOGO. There was a 35-cent-off coupon in the 10/4 newspaper.
• Tylenol 7.99. Publix has a $2-off coupon in the flyer at the front of the store. There was also a manufacturer coupon for $1 off in the 10/4 newspaper.
  
• Oust 2 for $5. There was a $2-off-2 coupon in the 10/4 newspaper.
• Iams Cat Food $5.99. Publix ran a $1-off coupon in the 10/4 newspaper. You could combine this with a manufacturer coupon if you have one.

• Bolthouse Farms 100% Carrot Juice is on Advantage Buy for 2 for $6. I don't see coupons or sales for these very often, so I stocked up. I use a lot of this in smoothies.
  
• Fresh pineapple is on sale $2.99 (regular $4.99). I stocked up. I'm going to freeze it for green smoothies. The pineapple taste disguises the spinach nicely.
• Corn on the cob is 5 for $2

My Publix bill today was $115.75 and my savings was $48.48. I'm pretty happy with that, but I wonder if I can do better next week?

Good Deal on Soy Candles at Walgreens

Glade Soy Candles are on sale at Walgreens for $3.99 for the 4.9 ounce and $4.99 for the 10 ounce (three wick). Click here for a $3.50-off coupon. There was also a $1-off and a $3-off coupon in the newspaper on Sunday, October 4. Click here for a $5 rebate that can be used if you buy three candles.

I went to Walgreens today, and this is the deal I got (by the way, I had two sets of newspaper coupons):

• 10 ounce (three wick) for $4.99 minus $3 coupon = $1.99
  
• 10 ounce (three wick) for $4.99 minus $3 coupon = $1.99
• 4.9 ounce for $3.99 minus $3.50 coupon = 49 cents

Total with tax was $5.45. Because I bought three, I can submit a rebate for $5. Accounting for the 44-cent stamp I need to mail in the rebate, the total cost for all three candles is 89 cents. That's a savings of $26.50!

By the way, the bigger 3 wick candles are slightly less expensive at Publix. So, it's possible to get an even better deal by getting the big ones there.

Green Smoothie - Yum!

I've heard about smoothies made with spinach, and truthfully, they sounded kind of gross. However, our regular smoothie recipe was getting a little old, so I decided I was ready to give this green smoothie thing a try. It was actually VERY good! I've made it two days in a row and both days my boys slurped them right down and asked for seconds.

Smoothies have become a mainstay in our household. They provide a surefire way to get some good nutrition into our picky children. Not to mention, I feel great after I drink one!

It's hard to go wrong with a smoothie. There are a million variations you can use. Here's the recipe I used for the green smoothie we made today (shown above):

• a few handfuls of fresh organic spinach
• frozen strawberries (I get Publix brand for the best price)
  
• fresh pineapple (often on sale at Publix for $3.99)
  
• 2 bananas
• about a cup of organic non-fat plain yogurt
• about a cup of Bolthouse Farms 100% Carrot Juice
  
• a splash of orange juice
• a splash of flax seed oil
